This site will provide youth entrepreneurial development in beekeeping and vermicomposting for example. We will provide residential college internships for veterans, as well as recreational opportunities for community members. To accomplish this, we will transform jail cells into aquaponic tanks, guard towers into climbing walls, the prison bus into a traveling museum, the old ‘hot box’ into a recording studio, and more. In NC and NY, youth are adjudicated as adults for all charges at 16. Working with schools and the courts, we will use these closed prisons to divert youth from the court system. By 2025, we will help 25 communities implement this model as they, ‘Flip the Prison.’
